A HUGE SUCCESS!
A magnificent celebration of seventy years of
excellence in dance education by the
Giacobbe Academy of Dance
Often it is hard to know where to start, but two people have made it easy have made that easy. Jessica Bourgeois and Katie Brandner made the evening a knock-out, wonderful and highly successful party and fundraiser through their hard work, creativity and attention to detail. “Thank you” does not seem sufficient but, for now, it will have to do.
A special thanks goes to Kenner Mayor Michael Yenni for the great job he did as Master of Ceremonies and auctioneer.
Metairie Country Club gave us a gorgeous setting on the Grand Ballroom and the lovely patio. (The only thing Katie and Jessica cannot be credited with was the beautiful weather, but then again – who knows what strings they may have pulled.) The staff at MCC was very helpful and cooperative - and the food delicious.
A special part of the program was a new work by Ballet Master Richard Rholdon featuring Jessica Touchet and twenty plus GAD dancers to Broadway melodies.
La Fête gives us an opportunity each year to recognize those volunteers who have given so generously of their time and talent to Delta Festival Ballet and to honor our graduating senior dancers and wish them well as the move on to college. This year was o exceptions as Joseph Giacobbe presented awards for their invaluable service to Scott and Cara Dessens, Laurin Hart, Ann Heath and Pam Touchet. Accepting for graduating senior Macy Dunne who was dancing that night (at her graduation prom) were proud parent Randy and Jeanne Dunne.
La Fête was blessed this year by a record number of corporate and individual donor/sponsors at a range of levels led by Broadway Level supporter Capital One Bank. [hot link to web site]. A complete list of the year’s supporters is below.
This year also saw the most extravagant display of silent and live auction items ever. Over 90 items ranging from spa sessions to tickets and limousine ride to the Broadway in New Orleans performance of Wicked were on display for some very intense bidding. Thank you to all the businesses and individuals who gave so generously to the auction this year.
